Unnikrishnan thrilled at his daughter’s national award

Unnikrishnan-daughter-UttaraPlayback singer Unnikrishnan has expressed his delight at his 10-year old daughter Uttara Unnikrishnan getting the ‘national award for best playback singer’ (female) at the 62nd national film awards which were announced in New Delhi a couple of days back.
In doing so, Uttara has only repeated her father’s feat of winning the ‘national award for best playback singer’ (male) 21 years ago with his very first song. Unnikrishnan won the prestious award for his super-duper hit song Ennavale Adi Ennavale in the film Kaadhalan by Shankar which had music by A.R. Rahman. Unnikrishnan also has an 18-year old son.
Uttara won the national award for the Azhage Azhagu song from director Vijay’s Saivam. The song was penned by Naa Muthukumar, who was conferred with the ‘national award for best lyricist’ for this song. Unnikrishnan is mighty happy that her daughter has managed to win the coveted national award at such a young age and with her very first song in Tamil films.
Incidentally, Uttara was just 8 years of age when the song in question was recorded, which makes the award even more especial. “I consider it as a gift from God that my daughter has been able to win this award with her very first song,” says Unnikrishnan.
