I don’t pay much attention to link-up rumours: Priya Anand

Pretty Priya Anand, who awaits the release of her upcoming film Vai Raja Vai, has opined that she considers only as ‘publicity material’ the various rumours appearing in the press linking her to almost all her heroes. “I’m only in love with my work and not with any hero,” she asserts.

Priya, who debuted as heroine in Tamil with the 2009 Vaamanan which turned out to be a non-starter, has starred in Telugu and Hindi movies too. Of late, though, her focus appears to be mainly in Tamil films.

With a huge star-cast in Vai Raja Vai comprising Gautham Karthik, Taapsee Pannu, Vivek, Daniel Balaji,Sathish, Vasanth, Gayathri Raghuram, Sriranjani, BoseVenkat, M.S. Bhaskar, Manobala, Mayilsamy and Dhanush (in a cameo), Priya expects the film to do well at the box-office.

Directed by Rajini’s eldest daughter Aishwarya Dhanush, Vai Raja Vai has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and has cinematography by Velraj. The film missed its date in theatres late last year and is releasing shortly. “The script of Vai Raja Vai is entirely different from the films I have been part of so far. The script is what made me take up the project. I feel this is the first such film with a very different and un-tread backdrop.

“On the sets, Aishwarya means business and is a tough taskmaster. She doesn’t give up till the sequences turn out the way she exactly wants them to be,” confesses Priya. “When I started off with Vaamanan, I knew nothing about the film industry and has learnt many things over the years. I know what I’m capable of and I do everything what the directors expect from me,” she adds.

When quizzed about her ‘proximity’ to Gautham Karthik, she says: “I have been linked up with all my heroes so far; the rumorus bore me at times. However, I only treat them as publicity for the concerned films. I’m in love – of course – with my work and not with anybody else,” concludes Priya with a mischievous smile!
