Dhanush plays a slum-dweller in Balaji Mohan’s Maari

Sun-TV-bags-Maaris-satellite-rights-e1422942328907Dhanush, who is basking in the success of his latest Hindi film Shamitabh which released last Friday in theatres across the country, is awaiting the release of his K.V. Anand-directed Anegan this Friday. His next film after Anegan would be Balaji Mohan’s Maari which has him pairing up opposite Kajal Aggarwal.
Balaji Mohan, who made films such as Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi and Vaayai Moodi Pesavum in the past, is making his third film as director with Maari which has the first time on-screen pair of Dhanush and Kajal Aggarwal.
Playback singer Vijay Yesudas essays a prominent role in the film which also has ‘Robot’ Shankar and Kaali Venkat in prominent roles. Anirudh Ravichander is the film’s music director.
Dhanush is making the film in association with Raadhika Sarathkumar. Om Prakash is the film’s cinematographer. The film’s poster, which was revealed recently, met with a huge response from Dhanush’s fans and movie-goers. Dhanush’s look made many wonder as to whether he was essaying the role of a slum-dweller in the film.

It is now reported that Dhanush is indeed playing a slum-dweller in the film for which he has brushed up his ‘Madras lingo’ to nicety. Dhanush has spoken the local dialect in a couple of films in his career and is well-versed with it. The shoot has been going on at popular Chennai slums in Triplicane and North Chennai.
